Trumping High Truck Demand with 24/7 Customer Service


A Fortune 100 automotive OEM was experiencing increased consumer demand for two of its signature midsize truck models. With its manufacturing plant running at full capacity, the OEM made scheduling changes and added labor to increase production of the two truck models. Complicating the situation was the production of two van models at the same plant. This required the OEM to balance production of four vehicles while ensuring that dealers had sufficient inventory of the two truck models, whose pre-orders were seven times higher than forecast.
